Memorial Choral Service
The stunning and historic St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral will come alive with a special Choral Eucharist in memory of George Boole at the Cathedral. There will be a choral service with accompaniment on the organ. The organ has been recently restored and, with 88 speaking stops and 4,500 pipes, is the biggest in the Republic and the only one on the whole island of Ireland to be located in a 'pit’. It is a fine example of historical restoration and new build and can now be described as one of the truly great organs of Europe.
Archdeacon Adrian Wilkinson is to give the sermon and there will also be a special performance by Robert Creed, a music student at UCC, who was inspired by the poetry of George Boole to compose a slow air in his memory. Read more about this fine musical composition here.
