Celebrating the Transatlantic Founders of the Information Age

A symposium to recognise the achievements of George Boole and Claude Shannon and speakers will include Professor Patrick O’Shea, Vice President and Chief Research Officer at the University of Maryland and Professor Barry O’Sullivan, Director of the Insight Centre for Data Analytics at UCC.   

Additional speakers include:

  • Michael Murphy, President, University College Cork
  • Phil Fleming, CTO of North America, Nokia Networks
  • Robert Gray, Stanford University
  • Michael Sipser, Dean of Science, MIT
  • James Whelton, Co-found of CoderDojo

This event will take place on March 18th, 2016 from 1pm to 5.30pm in the Singleton Auditorium 46-3002 in MIT. Reception to follow at the Pappalardo Room, 4-349 at 6pm. Full instructions on how to register for global alumni events are available here.
