Exclusive Screening

UCC Alumni Association is delighted to invite you and a guest to an exclusive screening of The Genius of George Boole, a documentary, narrated by Oscar winner, Jeremy Irons. The film examines the legacy of UCC’s first Professor of Mathematics, George Boole - creator of Boolean algebra and forefather of the digital age. 

After the screening, Cork 96FM’s Deirdre O’Shaughnessy will chair a panel discussion and audience Q&A.  

Our distinguished panel consists of:

• Shemas Eivers, Chairman, National Software Centre & Chairman, Boole Investment Syndicate
• Olivia Frawley, George Boole Family History Project Manager
• Leonard Hobbs, Director, Global Affairs, Intel Ireland
• Des MacHale, Emeritus Professor of Mathematics, UCC & George Boole’s Biographer
• Virginia Teehan, Director Cultural Projects, UCC
• Danny Riordan, PhD student & Presenter UCCFM’s Black Holes & Revelations Science Radio Show

The discussion will explore Boole’s legacy as one of Cork’s unsung heroes in this, his bicentenary year.

The evening will conclude with a drinks reception at 8.45pm in the adjacent Jennings Gallery.
