Stephen Mizelas is an English freelance documentary and film maker who has a particular passion for science, history and a reputation for finding the real human story behind every tale. Having worked in the industry for over 15 years he has worked with most of the major broadcasters, including the BBC, Discovery and Sky.
Stephen began his career working for the BBC on Kilroy and found he had a talent for finding some of Britain's most colourful characters. Ever since he has continued to document a diverse selection of people from all walks of life. From North London's Lady pest controllers to Russian scientists living in the North Pole to the secretive world of McLaren racing. More recently Stephen made the critically acclaimed Speed Dreams films for the BBC, a series about a group of bikers making land speed vehicles in their sheds to race on the Salt Flats of Utah.
Since 2009 Stephen has worked on a number of projects with Oxford Film and TV, working on films ranging from the wonderful world of Am Dram to filming Syrian trauma surgeons practicing on cadavers at the Royal College of Surgeons. He claims he can now perform a tracheotomy in pitch black conditions.
