Over 7,000 secondary school students were welcomed to the UCC, to explore the campus, examine course opportunities, and of course, to meet George Boole.
On Friday 18 April 2015, UCC welcomed more than 7,000 Transition and Fifth Year students from around the country to campus for the UCC Spring Open Day 2015. As part of George Boole 200 and in honor of the bicentiary celebrations, the Mathematician himself made an appearance.
Initial feedback from the schools is very positive and we worked closely with the Admissions Office, who coordinate all the academic and administrative staff across the University who helped to make the day so successful, between organising extra activities for the students to enjoy as well as participating in the Information Stands, a vital part of any Open Day. Special thanks go incredible team of nearly 200 Student Ambassadors who all play a very important role at the Spring Open Day. The Student Ambassadors were exceptional in their efforts this year.
The George Boole Programme teamed up with BIS, the Business Information Systems course, to promote digital thinking and computer science. Boole featured in a number of student selfies, which can be enjoyed through our Facebook album for Open Day 2015.
All involved had a great day out and a big thank you to everyone who made the day such a success. We hope to see a few familiar faces at Boole Day this coming autumn.
